I remember when I was in jr. high I was walking through a field when all of the sudden I stepped down with my right foot and there was such a comotion and noise it scared me to death. I jerked my foot up and a pheasant exploded from the cover. Of course I was out hunting rabbits and all I had was a .22 with me. I vowed the next time I stepped on something Id keep my foot down. It never happened again and now Im 54.

I have never had an experience similar to that which I can recall, but I have nearly been given heart-attacks by grouse. Every now and then you'll be walking along minding your own business, and one of those little devils will come up with such a noise that you nearly drop your gun. One of these days they're going to be the death of me!

Gotta love pheasant hunting, your talking to your buddies about a past time, when all of the sudden a bird flushes at your steps, you loose your breath, then gain it quick enough to see the bird fold at the end of your gun barrel. I love the rush of upland hunting.

I have a story simaler to that but it was my dog. We were out walking though a crp field and my dog out of no where jumped about 5 feet in the air and i about died luaghing to death as he came running back to me and we saw a big rooster pheasant fly up and away.

I get tose fellings almost every first bird of the day and I Love it everytime!
