What do you guys think about these two rounds. I know the 10mm is more expensive to shoot, that is why they both will be handloaded. I am looking at the glock 20 and the glock23 for concealed carry and maybe some minor hunting.

The 10mm is even hotter than the 40. I was interested in the 10mm but factory ammo is too rare and expensive. If I hand loaded and it did not cost too much, maybe go for the 40 if the recoil is tolerable. But for concealed carry, I think not.

If you are going for a carry gun the 40 is much better. You will lose to much from the 10mm with the short barrel and the muzzle flash will blind you terribly in low light conditions. I have a Glock 35 and its a tack driver and now my favorite handgun.

I currently own a Kimber Stainless Target II 10mm and have owned a Glock Model 20 in the past. Both are great handguns but unless you have BIG hands the 20's grip is often too big for a lot of folks. The 10mm is extremely accurate and effective , there just aren't a lot of defensive loads available due to its mediocre popularity. The 40 is much more popular and there is a plethora of viable defensive loads for it.

I have a bunch of different 40's that I carry off duty but based on your given choices I would opt for the Glock 23.

Oh boy!!! I was just waaiting for you to ask!!! I have a Glock 20 and it is one of the best guns I have ever bought. The polymer frame is a great platform for that caliber since it will flex slightly under the recoil. No cracked frame or slide like on the S&W in the eighties. Although it isn't my everyday carry gun (That's a Glock 19) it is my backcountry/hunting hangun. I shot a doe with it last year from about 70 yards.

The grip is big and my hands are big too so, I have found some good leverage when I hold it. Glock has recently come out with a 20 & 29 Short Frame in the 10mm like they did in their .45s. So, it will fit more hands than before.

I found a gun shop in my town where the owner is a 10mm lover and he will keep a stock of 10mm ammo for us in this cult following we've created. Cabelas has a great variety too: 165 gr for plinking and targets 190gr for scary animals.

I would love to see a resurrgence of popularity for this caliber and load. It really is amazing and I couldn't be happier with it.

If you were looking for sheer power, go with the 10mm,it would even be a good back-up gun for smaller bears. But I would recomend the 40 S&W because it's avalable, you'll never find 10mm ammo at a local gun shop. And it's also A LOT more evpensive.Your better off shooting something two times with a 40 S&W then one time with a 10mm.
