It is 20 July 2006, 11:00 am, and all I can think about is the smell of fall and a buck in the crosshairs.

My thoughts are totally dominated by visions of upcoming hunting and fishing.

It isn't fair at all.

The wife is tired of the outdoor channel. I am already getting the guys together for several planned hunts this fall.

I'm leaving for Alaska in several weeks and it seems that for the past few days either Discovery or the History Channel, or something has a show on Alaska.

It's killing me.

my wife has been pretty understanding though... That is until I go shopping for gear to take. That she's getting tired of.

71 days until my "Once in lifetime - Nebraska Either *** Elk permit". Been in the drawing since 1985. Not that I'm counting mind you. Nice to know that there are others like me that realize that the secret of life is - Work is not something that was created to enjoy. It's just something you have to put up with to provide funds to buy hunting gear and other toys.

I'm just kickin' back waiting for the muzzleloading seson to get under way. Once that's done and over with, I'll really start driving my wife ape crap with all the other hunts I have planned.

A buck in the crosshairs is only a dream for me. Hunting is very scarce in my part of the country. Hope I can get off work to go sometime this year.

Guys i feel you all on this situation. my hunting partner are already getting our bows out and slinging some arrows. i cant wait until fall gets here b/c it means 3 things for me hunting, coll.. football, and hanging around camp with your hunting buds. What great times. bow season starts for us here in Ga. September 9 .Man i cant wait. Well everyone i wish you all well this hunting year. Good luck to all and be safe!!!!!
