I put Stabil in all my fuels, both mixed and non-mixed. It claims it will give you up to 1 year of fuel life. My lawnmower and my boat always started on the first pull come spring. I think with all the ethanol in fuel, it would be a wise decision to use. I put some in my new snow blower two days ago and it runs fine with it. I've also used it in my weed eater and leaf blower without any problems.

I read or heard ( could have been a salesman at my garage ) that sta-bil is not a very good gas stabilizer . this seafoam is supposed to be a top notch product . I have used it for injector cleaning and noisy lifters but I have not used it for stabilizer yet . when I finish my stabilizer I have opened I'm going to try it . you can buy it from auto part stores , like napa .it's not bad priced . some two stroke oils have a stabilizer already in it . I use stihl oil in my chain saw and weed-eater , it has gas stabilizer in it .

I had heard that premium 2cycle oils have a stabilizer in them too. I also read that if you only store for 2 or 3 months you don't need a fuel stabilizer, for longer times then it helps. I heard stabil worked too for it's intended purpose. I had not heard you could use seafoam like that. I know some people who put seafoam in just about everything, fuel, tranny's etc.

seafoam is some kind of miracle snake oil that seams to do about anything . I forget exactly what the sales rep. told me I think it was 1/4 can in the oil - 1/4 can through the carb or throttle body - and 1/2 can in the gas tank , he called it a poor mans tune up . Jim

My dad is a small engine guy. He does repairs for income now that he is retired. If he can't make it run no one can. He uses seafoam. 'Nuff said.

Stabil works great, use it in every seasonal engine I have and they all start great.
Before stabil I would often have to drain the old gas from the carbs before anything would run.

Just had my bike in for a tune-up and the mechanic suggested to stop using it. Seems the 10% ethanol used in gas now is having adverse affects on stabil actually making it break down rubber hoses. Don't know if its true but I guess time will tell.......
For the record I didn't have any problems in the carb.......or with my hoses.... but I only used it once.

If you use an ethanol blend, there is a different Sta-bil branded product you should use which is specific to ethanol.
As for hoses.... Unless your mechanic knows something that is contrary to physics, Stabil will not effect your hoses any differently than gasoline. If your machine is okay to burn ethanol, Sta-bil won't make any difference on the hoses.
Now, if your machine is old enough that it is not able to burn ethanol, then using ethanol blended fuel may affect your hoses. But this would be the case whether you have Sta-bil or not.

I use sta-bil in all my small engines and never have any problems and to the poster that was talking about Sea foam. This is a great Petroleum based product as well. I have used both with great success.

I use redline 2-cyles racing in everything but my outbroads and I use their OB oil. It stabilises fuel very well and protecs against rust. I have a 2001 edge with 5000 mi. First set of plugs lasted 3,000mi still on the second set. I just put a little in the tank for storage and pull the rop a few times during the summer. As for moers weedwhips etc I just negelic them all off season but the redline works for them as well.
