Parker makes the buck hunter, browning has the rage and rage one, fred bear makes the SQ32 that would fit your requirements. You could special order the parker bows (phoenix, frontier) in that poundage and draw weight.

The best brand to buy is a Hoyt. I've shot a PSE, Jennings and Hoyt. By far, the best is the Hoyt. It'll tune so tight, you'll be amazed when you start shooting for smaller and smaller targets.

I love to see a post like this. I guess if I used a limb and some string, I could recommend that. There are an endless supply of bows and opinions. Like you, I bought a champion bow for my son. Nice bow at a great price , since they went out of business, but it doesn't shoot arrows much faster than I can throw a rock. I have over 30 years at archery hunting and I have some advice for you. FIRST... decide how much you can afford to spend. SECOND... decide if you want new or used. THIRD... Try them all. All the bow manufacturers make good bows. It's just that some are better than others. Some will fit you better and some will shoot better. Example, I shot some Hoyts and hated them. Hoyt makes fantastic bows... just not for me. I bought a Darton bow about 5 months ago. It is my second one. It has the parallel limbs which reduced forward thrust to nearly nothing. Price $500. It fit me and shoots around 275 fps. This was important to me. The point is, you must form your own opinion and buy what works for you. Don't be afraid to walk out the door empty handed. In time you will find that bow that makes you want to say, HEY BUY THIS ONE!!!

My uncle has one. Hadn't shot a bow in years. Picked up a cheapo and was doing ok at 20 yards. Not good enough to hunt, mind you.
Then he got his Mathews as a gift. (Sweet gift!) and within a week was very leathal out to 50 yards. Good enough that he passed Alaska's tough bow hunting course on the first try.
Was it the bow?
Maybe. He loves it and says it has dramatically improved his shooting.
I'll actually get the chance to shoot it in a few weeks and will give a report.

After 20 years at sliver flinging I agree with airborne 100% know what you can spend then shoot them all!! if you find one you feel comfortable with shoot just a few more just to make sure! There's no mircle bows out there that will make a bow hunter over night but if it feel's right and the price is right go for it. I have owned and shoot browning, pse, oreagon, mcphearson, and matthews. My personal chose was the pse and still shooting it. But with that said the switch back is probably next. When my finacail advisor
( my wife ) says ok...

For the people that can afford it, go with the Mathews Switchback Xt. Talk about sweet and improving your accuracy and extending your range.

check out cabela's pl1.5 outfitter. I've got the pl 1 outfitter (which they replaced with the 1.5) It's a great bow at a reasonable price. I couldn't be happier.

If you want to spend the $1000 plus to completely set up the switchback, go ahead. If you haven't checked out the Fred Bear Code, Element, or Instinct, do it. For the money you can't go wrong. I have shot all three and the switch back, if any of these three will work for you, you could save up to $600

I'm about to make a lot of you Matthews shooters mad........
A fellow who works for my father in law who is an accomplished bowhunter shoots a Matthews. Not sure of the model, but he's got about 1000 bucks invested in it. A bunch of us were dove hunting a couple years ago and decided to bring our bows along to target shoot in the middle of the day when the doves weren't flying. Bow season for deer opens a week after dove season starts here. So my friend whips out his fancy bow and challenges me to shoot for money. Only a $5.00 bet amongst friends mind you, Nothing real serious. I pull out my PSE Nova that I bought at Walmart, tuned and completely set up myself. I've got maybe $300.00 in it minus the arrows. We start shooting at 15 yards and back it out all the way to 50. The first thing the guy says is "d@mn you shoot fast". The second thing he says after he sees my group sizes is that "Uh Oh, Jimmy (my father in law) brought a ringer". By the end of the day he was PO'd. We finished up shooting at the plastic cap from a pepsi bottle stuck into the foam target at 20 yds. I nailed it on the second try. He kept trying and never hit it. Granted his arrows were flying faster and flatter. Mine were arcing a bit when we got out to 50 yds, but my groups were still smaller. I also shoot aluminum arrows and 125 grain heads that back the target up with each hit. His were lightweight carbons that were so short he needed an overdraw. Mine thumped when they hit the target. They also nail whitetails with the same force.
I told him to bring more money next year.
The point I'm trying to make is that it isn't the bow. First get a bow that fits you, no matter what the brand. Then set it up and tune it correctly. Then PRACTICE.......

the 06 or 07 browning illusion can be adjusted from 50 to 70 pounds with 65 to 80 percent let off. very quick and quite. can be worked on with no bowpress. the draw lenths go from 25 to30. great bow! good luck1
