How do you guys go about trapping coyotes? I wanted to get a couple with a conibear and I have a couple ideas but I wanted to know if there were some tried and tested methods.
As a general rule conibears are not a good coyote trap at all and I have never heard of anyone having any success with them. Not only do they not blend in at all but it is also not easy to persuade a coyote through a 10x10 inch or smaller opening.

Coyote and fox trapping are very similar. WHat i use is a Duke #2 and make a dirt hole set. What u do dig a hole at a angle in the ground. At the back of the hole u put a log for backing cause coyotes dig and hide things under logs, trees etc. Then at the beginning of the hole you dig a little cubby like and u put ur trap there. Then u spack dirt around it and sprinkle some over it to cover it up. U put ur lure or bait down in the hole. What i tend to do is put a "stepping stick" in front of the pin, trigger whatever cause a yote will seee that and step over it into ur trap.... :D

I found a very succesful way of coyote trapping by dragging a deer carcase into an area where you know coyotes are around. Then put cedar trees around it while leaving three holes in it. Put a snare on each one of the holes. It would probably work with legholds but I've never used them because they're illegal in New Jersey. Put some scent on the carcase too so coyotes are attracted faster.

It wouldn't be easy to get a coyote to stick it's head into a conibear. Most states don't allow large killer type traps set on dry land without provisions to keep it dog resistant, snares can also be restricted. There may be more options on private land, maybe not.
